How to Have the Energy to Power Through the Holidays

How to Have the Energy to Power Through the Holidays
14 Dec 2022

The holidays can be an exciting time. Parties, shopping, and visiting friends and family all throughout the season are just some of the activities folks of all ages enjoy.

However, you might find yourself feeling more tired and run down than usual. Perhaps you think there is no hope and you're doomed to feel exhausted until the season is over. With a little extra care and structuring your days out, you can find the energy you need to power through the holidays. Find out how you can get started.

Get Plenty of Rest

It stands to reason that to have enough energy to make it through the day, you should give your body the rest it needs. How much sleep you personally require is different for every adult. According to research, most adults need anywhere from 7 to 9 hours of rest every night.

You can try experimenting to see what works best for your body and your schedule. Perhaps you might benefit from a short nap in the middle of the day, or maybe you need less rest than you realized. Regardless, start looking at your sleep and nap habits, and see if changing those first helps with the way you are feeling.

Plan Your Days Out Efficiently

How do your days normally stack up? Are you busy? Or do you find yourself running around in circles, unsure of what to do or what tasks need to be taken care of? If this describes you, perhaps you should consider making a plan for your days moving forward, and figuring out what you want to accomplish each day.

It might help to make a weekly to-do list of all the things you need to achieve for that week. You can then delegate days and figure out what tasks will work best for each given day. Planning out your days in this manner can help you avoid overbooking yourself, while still ensuring that you are taking care of work that needs to be done.

This is especially important during the holidays when you might have parties or events to attend, but they only take place on certain days. Using this method can ensure you are staying on top of everything and still getting to enjoy the magic of the season.

Consider an Energy Boost To Help

We all need an energy boost at one time or another in order to make it through to the end of the day. Some people drink coffee, but if you are looking to watch your weight and stay healthy at the same time, you might try a vanilla protein shake recipe. This can give you the energy boost that you are looking for without giving you a reason to crash at the end of the day.

Some folks find this helpful if they are doing a 75 hard challenge or another fitness program that can help keep them on track during the Christmas season when it's too easy to overeat and indulge in sweets and alcohol.

It is possible to give yourself enough energy to make it through from now until Christmas Day (and even beyond). Make sure you are getting enough sleep every evening. Try to make plans for the upcoming week, and delegate certain tasks to finish on particular days, depending on your needs and what you are trying to accomplish. Finally, give yourself a healthy pick-me-up such as a protein shake, rather than a coffee or something else that is too sugary and sweet.

These little suggestions can help you feel your best and start the new year off on the right foot.
