10 Small Ways to Save the Environment

10 Small Ways to Save the Environment
20 Mar 2020

The environment supports the existence of a human being. Our daily interaction and proper management of this entity will determine our wellbeing and everyday performance. Environmental and climate change is no longer some future anticipated problem, it is happening, and it has become our reality. Should we sit down and watch it deteriorate and degrade? No.  You can make the environment safe to live if you follow the following ways.

1. Compost Making

Compost making is the process of turning organic matter into decomposed natural fertilizers. The process of making compost will help recycle and reduce waste that leads to environmental degradation. The compost you make from this waste enriches the soil, helps to retain moisture, lowers carbon footprints and reduces methane emissions that are experienced from landfills (waste). Enrich soil supports the plant.

2. Use LEDs

To save the environment, you have to limit the amount of electricity you use by using LED bulbs which lasts around 25,000 hours compared to the incandescent bulb, which lasts around 1,000 hours. You can limit the amount of electricity by switching off all home and office appliances, and this helps to save electricity and reduce heat.

3. Plant a Tree

Trees are beneficial to the environment for as it absorbs the CO2 that humans’ breath out and is responsible for large production of oxygen. In 2018, the united nations in her research emphasized that an additional 2.5 billion acres of forest in the world might limit global warming. Planting trees in your immediate environment goes a long way to save you. The tree serves as a windbreak and beautifies the environment. Investment in planting tree will save a lot of people more than you can imagine.

4. Avoid Using Plastic

Plastic waste ends up in the ocean yearly, which in turn affects the water bodies. An essay writer once emphasized that the burning of plastic is dangerous to the environment as a result of certain chemical emissions. The solution to this is by replacing single-use plastic with reusable cups, bottles, and others.  This is very important because a significant percentage of used plastic doesn’t get recycled hence causing pollution to the water bodies.

5. Recycling

Recycling is the process of gathering and reusing already used items. You should dispose of recyclable goods in the recycling bin where they can easily be collected for reuse rather than in a waste bin.  There are a lot of things we use in our day-to-day life that should not be thrown off. Such includes grocery bags, paper, bottles, cutleries, glass, and others.

You should avoid the use of disposable plates and spoons as they contribute to the already high percentage of pollution in the world today.

6. Walk and Take Public Transport or Bike

A research paper at bestessays.com recorded that the gaseous emission from cars contributes to the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. To reduce the greenhouse emission, you should take a walk to a short distance rather than taking a car. Walking is an exercise, save your environment by engaging it. Taking public transport reduces the number of cars on the road and walking will help you burn some calories and reduce greenhouse emissions at the same time.

7. Going Paperless

If you care about the environment, you will be conscious of the way you use paper. It is good when we have papers to read and write on. However, it is safe for the environment if we reduce the use of paper. Paper contributes to the large percentage of waste we dispose of; to solve this problem, we can reduce the number of print out we have on various subjects. This means that you will engage in reading e-copies or using your laptops rather than carrying paper and pen about.

8. Conserving Water

While some people enjoy water in large quantities, it is very scarce in some other places. Water contributes to our wellbeing, and it is beneficial to everyone and plant in the environment. We must learn to conserve water by using the amount we need and not leaving it to overflow. Limiting water usage saves the environment.

9. Spread Awareness

Awareness in our community is vital. A lot of people don’t know that their actions affect the environment. You need to call their attention to the benefit of a safe environment and ensure you let people know the consequence of every little action.

10. Dispose of Properly

You should dispose of your waste properly. Learn to separate the biodegradable and recyclable waste. Drop recyclable waste in the recycling bin and the other waste in the refuse bin.

Conclusion

As environmental problems and its related consequences pose a threat to everyone, saving the environment is our collective responsibility and necessity. You are contributing to our woes when you refuse to do that small thing. When you refuse to take the little step, you have failed at saving the environment. Now is the time, tomorrow’s damage is likely irreversible. Let us reuse, reduce and recycle to have a better environment.
